5 Things I Learned From Making Money Online
How long have you been trying to make money online? Do you consider yourself successful at it? If you don’t consider yourself successful no matter how much you are making then you need to do something about it. What I mean is you need to either step it up or start a new idea.
Giving up on an idea that is going nowhere is not a bad thing, sometimes you have to cut your loses and that is all part of the online game. I remember when I tried to start making money through insurance leads but I quickly realized that the niche that I was in was too saturated that I didn’t have a chance, so I sold the website and moved on.
Making money online is not as hard as many people make it out to be and that is why I love it Not only that but I take everything that I learn in the real world and apply it online in some way. What this helps me with is getting better at what I do online and it increases my income along the way.
Like I said, making money online is not hard but you have to learn along the way. If you have it embedded in your mind that you know everything then you are going to fail. Below you will find 5 things I learned from making money online in the past 3 years.
5 Things I learned
It Takes Time
No matter what you plan to do to make money online, it will take time. Whether you are starting an outsourcing business, doing freelance work, running a blog, or just taking part in affiliate market. Everything will take time.
Once you know that thing take time and you will not just start making money right from the get go, you will do much better. The reason I say this is because some people think that making money online is coming up with an idea but that is not completely true, you have to execute that idea and you never know how long that will take.
Stick To One Idea
Another thing that I learned was that you should never try more than 1 thing at a time when you are first getting started. If you were anything like me then you were trying to create a blog, establish yourself as a freelance writer, take part in affiliate marketing, and even trying to sell things on eBay. The problem here is when I had an issue with one of these ideas I would then have to drop everything and tend to it.
This really disrupted my business.
After roughly 5 months I figured out that I am not getting anywhere and so I stopped everything I was doing and found 1 thing that worked for me – Blogging. I stuck with it and eventually I was able to build up a large network of websites that all make enough to provide for my family and I.
Building A Business VS. Offering A Service
One of the things that I learned which was tough at first was how to build a business versus just offer a service. When I first started out making money online I was writing articles for people on the Digitalpoint forum. Now I am not putting this down because it is where I got started but this is not what you want to do forever.
At first I was just offering a service and I mean this because I was doing writing jobs of 5-10 articles and then I was done. There was never any repeat work.
After 3 months of doing small jobs I got really tired of it and was thinking about quitting the entire “Online business” idea. It was then I sat down with a cousin of mine (also my mentor) and he told me to stop taking small jobs and start creating a business. And so I did.
Days later I was flooded with emails and private messages for more work and I began to turn everybody down until they met my demands (price or word). I was not asking for a lot but what I was asking for is the chance to prove myself as the go-to-guy for all their writing needs.
Now only did I have to prove myself to them, I needed them to spread the word about the service that I provided. Eventually I was able to take my small service and turn it into a full time income which I am happy to say, “Still provides for me today”!
What Am I Worth
Learning what you are actually worth is a very important thing when it comes to any business. This is something that I learned to do when I was working as a Financial Representative a few years ago and it has stuck with me.
The way you tell what you are worth is by taking what you make per week and divide that by the amount of hours you work towards building your business or online venture. The reason you figure out what you are worth hourly is because that is what most people get paid by.
Now that you know what your real worth is, you can then stick to the tasks that provide the biggest return for you. For me that would be creating new websites, freelance writing, and link building.
You Need Help
Something else that I learned recently is that I need help. For the past 3 years I was doing everything on my own and it was starting to take a toll on me. Not only did I need help running my many businesses, I needed help starting new ones as well.
This was an easy problem to solve since I had already taken part in outsourcing before. All I did was called upon a few of the writers, link builders, and general virtual assistance that I worked with before for some help. They were glad to help me (for a fee) and so I now was able to spend more time creating new businesses while my virtual team worked on the older niche websites and helped get more freelance work.
You see, when it comes to making money online sometimes you have to spend a little bit of money so that you can make more. I know this might sound a little counterproductive but the truth is that it works. Try it, go and get yourself a virtual assistant of some kind to help you make money.
In the few years that I have been online and trying to make money, I have learned quite a bit but these are the top 5 things that I have learned from making money online. When it comes to making money online you need to stop thinking of it as a hobby and more as a job because essentially that is what it is.

I have been trying to get a decent online income since a long tie, but never reached even half of my requirements. I tried so many things like link building, article writing, web-hosting, commenting and forum posting, php coding, etc. But none worked for me. Reading your article I feel that I never gave sufficient time for each of them. I feel its time to give a fresh start to it.
