Something that most people don’t know about me is that I love soccer (futbol). The reason why this is relevant to a website about making money is because it has taught me quite a bit about making money from home and that is what I want to share with you today.

For me, making money from home has always been something that I wanted to do. It wasn’t because I didn’t want to work at a normal job, it was because I wanted to be the one responsible for my everything I did and I didn’t want somebody else making decisions that would affect my life. If you are tired of somebody telling you when you can take a day off, when you can go home, and when you can take a break from work then I highly recommend working from home because you won’t have any of that.

And now, what soccer taught me about making money from home.

The first thing that soccer taught me is that you can’t do everything by yourself. In Soccer there are 11 people on the field and each one of them has a role in the game. Just like in business, you need to assign people a specific role and trust that they will be able to handle it. Being that I played soccer non-stop for the past 15 years I was able to trust people that most people would not. The trick is you need to be the coach or the captain – you need to tell your team what you need them to do and help them succeed at it.

Another thing that soccer taught me is that I had to practice no matter what. Here’s a personal story that I want to share that might help clear this up.

Back when I was a senior in high school I was so motivated to get in better shape and dominate the game that I was practicing every day for about 3 hours and then I would come home and workout for about another hour. Now I didn’t know how much of an improvement I had made in the first month since I started doing this until March 15, 2006 (mine and my wife’s 1 year dating anniversary) where I stepped onto the soccer field and scored a goal in the first 3.2 seconds of the match. Being that leg strength is important I worked them out quite a bit up until this point so it was because of my practicing and dedication to fitness that lead me to score the fastest goal in the state’s history.

Anyway, this is why you need to practice. If you don’t practice then you won’t do anything new, which means your competition will know what your next more is always going to be.

The last thing that soccer taught me about making money from home is that you don’t have to dominate your competition, all you have to do is be 1 better than they are. What I mean by this is that there is no point in crushing yourself just to get so far ahead of your competition when it really doesn’t matter. For the longest time I thought that I had to dominate at everything that I did but I see now that it is not necessary.

If you take my online business for example – I don’t have to build a million links to my websites when 150 links will do (this is just an example). Let’s say I want to rank on Google for the keyword – Make money online (pretty tough), now I know that another website has 149 links using that keyword and they are ranked number 1. Would it make much sense for me to go out and build 10,000 links to my site using that keyword? No, if all I need is 150 then why waste my time going overboard with it.

As you can see from my example, you only need to be 1 better than your competition. There is no point in doing more than you need to do just yet because while you are beating your competition other people are going to be coming after you and that is what you need to be ready for. I hope you understand how soccer helped me make money from home and I hope that you can attribute some of your success to a sport because if you think about it, everything we do has some kind of sports mentality to it.
