If you didn’t get a chance to read My Content Strategy, then I highly recommend you do that now. In this last post I talk about how I plan on creating the content, how many words I will write and why it is important. I can now say that the content strategy worked because my site is already on page 3 of Google and I have not created any backlinks to it. Truthfully, I only have the homepage setup.

One of the things I like about making money online with niche website is that you don’t have to do a lot to start to earn an income. This being said, my site is already on page 3 of Google (position 35). I know a lot of you may be wondering what my site is about and although I would love to tell you, I can’t because many people will spam my site and some will try to rip off my content.

Info About My Niche Site

• Adsense Cost Per Click – .96
• Local US Searches Per Month – 1,900
• Low Competition Keyword
• Many Long Tail Keywords

The Adsense CPC is a little lower than I normally like but because of the increased traffic I decided to go with it. I normally choose sites that have more than 1,200 local searches but also have a CPC or more than $1. Another thing I always look at is whether the competition is high or not. If there is a lot of competition, then I will normally stay away from that niche for the time being.

One of the things that you need to remember is that I am not trying to find a way around Google or tricks that will get my site banned anytime in the future, I want to build a sustainable business that I can build on month after month. For those of you who have followed some of my projects here on DormRoomCash.com you know that I have been creating a few niche sites every week.

How To Make More Money

So far I have been lucky enough to rank for my primary keyword but I don’t want to stop there so I am going to start creating more pages. I didn’t think I would need to create new pages this soon but because the site is showing so much progress, I am going to start already.

The first thing that I am going to do is write 4 more articles for the site and then use My Content Strategy to get the entire site ranked a litter higher. Once I do that my next goal will be to wait a couple weeks to see where the site stands and then I will start building backlinks. The key here is to slowly establish your niche site because you don’t want to add too many pages too fast or build too many links.

Another thing that I will be doing is adding a few long tail articles to the site after 20 days of the site being online. My goal with these long tail articles is to get long tail traffic which is going to help me a lot with the income that the site earns. My goal so far is to have 10 total articles on this small niche site but if I start to earn more than $50 per month, then I will increase the number of articles by at least 2 each month.

Just so that you know, I did the keyword research, purchased the domain, setup the site using WordPress and then added one article to the site 2 days ago (Friday, January 27) and as I write this (Sunday, January 29) the site is already ranking. This is why it is imperative that you do keyword research and setup your niche site the right way.

Today I don’t want to talk about the topic of the site or the methods I will be using to build backlinks, I want to share with you my content strategy to make money with this niche site. My goal with this site is the same as with any niche site I create – I want to make at least $50 per month.

Only $50 per month?

Yes, I know this doesn’t sound like much but the truth is that the site will only have 10 pages or content and then I will update the site every month just to give it a little more traffic. If you break that down that means that each page will earn $5 per month. Being that my goal this year is to create a huge passive income, this is going to be how I do it.

So what is my content strategy?

Well, first of all I will be targeting keywords that I know I can rank for (low competition). My goal would be to get secondary keywords that get at least 300 local searches per month. If I can rank for my main keyword and 9 other pages that get at least 300 local searches per month, then I should have no problem making a constant $50 each month.

The way I will write each article is by simply researching the topic as much as I can and then writing the articles myself. Normally I outsource this part of the process but this time I am going to do it all myself in order to get the site ranking extremely high in a short amount of time. Another thing that I will be doing is writing articles that have the main keyword 4-6 times throughout the content and 2 other secondary keywords twice each. If I can do this, then I can use those secondary keywords to link back to my other pages and also increase their search engine ranking.

Keys To My Content

Long Posts – Something that I have been doing for a while now is writing long posts unlike many other niche website owners. What most people do is they will create a post that is only 400-500 words long by on average my niche posts are around 800 words in length. I think this is what has been helping my sites rank rather high so I am going to stick with it.

Great Content – Not only will I be writing articles that are longer than most other articles, I will be adding better information to them. This will provide a huge benefit to the site since a lot of articles online are simply filled with general advice as opposed to great content. In order to make this happen I will have to do a lot of research on the subject matter because it is not something that I know a lot about just yet.

2 Images In Each Post – Did you know that having images in your posts will increase their search engine rankings? This is something that a lot of people don’t know and that is what I want to help you understand. With 2 images in each post I can add a title to the image which will make the SEO on that post much better. Another thing I will be doing is putting a link on those images with one to the same page and another to the homepage. I do this on most of my other sites and it seems to make a slight difference so that is why I am going to continue to do it.

Interlink Posts – Something that I do here and on my other niche sites is try and place links back to my other articles inside each post and that is something that I want to continue with. The more links that you can have in your articles, the better your SEO will be. One of the ways that I plan on creating links is to start off by linking directly to the homepage but after a few weeks I will create links to the individual posts which is where the interlinking will come in handy. Most people forget to do this and that is something that I will not forget on this site.

Anyway, that is my content strategy to make money online through this niche site. I know I didn’t give you a lot of information about my particular niche site but it will come on Mondays posts so make sure you check that out.

Problems with the old design:

• Looked cluttered
• Adsense ad on the top of the site was the main point, not the content
• Links on the posts were barely visible
• The coding was extremely difficult to figure out

Why I choose this new design:

• Easy to customize
• Looks cleaner
• Has ample advertising space
• Featured post on top of site
• Links are now easily visible
• Sharebar on the side of every post

Freelance Writing

One of the things that I have been doing lately is writing more articles for clients and this is really starting to pay off. If you remember from my new direction that I posted a week or so ago, I want to create a passive income but prior to doing that I need to make more money upfront to pay for outsourced work and more websites.

The great thing about freelance writing is that I can get as many clients as I can find to offer my services to. So far this year I have been lucky enough to have a lot of work sent my way which will ultimately help me create a better blog right here.

One thing that I would like to recommend to anybody out there that is trying to make money online through freelance writing is that you should definitely try out Textbroker. This year I have made it a goal of mine to write at least 15 articles per week for Textbroker and so far this month I have been averaging 24 articles each week.

What does this mean?

This is over $100 worth of work if you are a level 3 writing and over $150 worth of work if you are a level 4 writer. Trust me on this one, writing for Textbroker is much better than struggling to find clients and not making money.

My Guest Posting Strategy

I decided not to post guest posts on A-list blogs this time because I wanted to write more posts and spread them over a wide variety of blogs instead. The reason I am doing this is to get more people over to my blog and learn about what I have to offer. I think this will be a better strategy but I will have to wait and see after a month or so and then I will let you know what I found out.

The guest posts that I did were all related to freelance writing, guest posting, blogging, making money online and time management. I write on these subjects because I know a lot about them and want others to see how much I can offer them.

Constant Content is a great place to publish your writing. Articles can be read by potential buyers in the form of an image so that it can’t be copied. They say that 70 percent of the articles written for Constant Content eventually get sold. This is pretty good! However, it only takes three article rejections and you’re banned from Constant Content for life. This may seem pretty harsh, but they have to maintain a high level of quality in order to please their clients. Many people have made a lot of money with this site through private inbox article orders.

2. Sign Up And Write For Textbroker

Textbroker has a lot of work available to aspiring writers. You are assigned by the administrators to be in one of five available writing categories. 1, 2, 3, 4, or 5 stars. You can be bumped up or down levels, depending on your writing skill and the quality of work you produce. Achieving a four or five star rating will give you the chance to really make a lot of money. As it stands, the 4 and 5 star article categories are filled with more work than there are writers! Isn’t that great?

Generally, if you’re writing is well written, you are placed in the 3 star category automatically. It’s up to you to prove your writing skills from there and get bumped up to the 4 or 5 star category. Pay is higher for 4 and 5 star articles than they are at the 3 star range. Additionally, you can be assigned private work orders through your on-site inbox. This can really increase the amount you can make with this site.

3. Sign Up And Write For Demand Studios

Demand Studios is exactly what they call themselves. Demanding. Some writers are able to adhere to their strict standards of quality and some aren’t. If you think you are good enough to be a part of the Demand Studios team, at least try out. What do you have to lose? It’s free to be a writer at Demand Studios!

One thing you should know about Demand Studios is that they will frequently send your work back to you for revising. This doesn’t mean your work was subpar, it simply means they want you to improve upon it to make it even better. Demand Studios is trying to go above and beyond mediocre writers. Many people have earned an income that is enough to be called a full time job. All you have to do is give it your all and be willing to make substantial revisions to your work. That’s pretty much it. Expect to be paid very well from this site if you can prove you’re worth it.

4. Check Out Elance, Odesk, and Possibly Guru

The website above has 20 places to look for additional freelance writing work. Some sites are just getting started and some are already established. You’re going to need a reputation at these sites in order to get any work orders. If someone sees that you have very little experience, they will be quick to disregard your application. Elance is a profitable and established place to start looking for work. So is Odesk. Focus all your efforts to building a successful reputation at these two sites. Keep an eye on the other sites as well, as they may become a solid place to find more writing work in the future.

Before I get started and tell you why Twitter is not used the right way, I first would like to ask that you follow DormRoomCash on Twitter so that you have a better understanding of what I am talking about.

When you go to the DormRoomCash Twitter page you will notice that I don’t post links to anything that I don’t own. By this I mean I will not post a link to an affiliate product or anything else, instead, whenever I post a link it is either to a post I just wrote here on DormRoomCash.com or to my Facebook Account. The reason for this is because my followers don’t want to see the products that I am promoting, instead they want to see what I am talking about and what I have been doing that day.

The reason I asked if you earn money online with Twitter is very simple – Twitter is a great way to make money as long as you know how to use it. Do I make money with Twitter? Yes I do and the reason I say this is because I get a lot of traffic from Twitter and some of that traffic will result in affiliate sales or income through Adsense.

Now, I am not trying to increase my Twitter followers so that I can make more money. The entire point of increasing my Twitter followers is so that I can help more people and gain exposure throughout the year. One of my goals for 2012 is to pretty much Be Everywhere, just like Pat Flynn from the SmartPassiveIncome blog.

One other thing that I want you to understand is that you can make money online using Twitter so if you are not doing everything you can to get more followers, build your brand or just stay connected to the people you have, then you need to do that now.
